Jones meanwhile, believes that Saracens are playing the kind of rugby that will win games as it takes every advantage of the current rules.

He commented, “We had some control today and, with the way the game’s being played at the moment and the interpretation of the laws, you need that control. You’ve then got to be good enough to take advantage of your opportunities and we did that.”

The versatile 24-year-old can play in both the full-back and wing positions.

Saracens director of rugby, Eddie Jones believes they’ve got a good player on their books.

“He had a very good 2007 World Cup in France and is a player with a good kicking game who is strong in defence.”

The centre missed two months of the last season with a shoulder injury and could well be sidelined for the same period of time again.

Farrell, who has had persistent injury problems since moving to Rugby Union is disappointed with the situation but is optimistic about his return.

He commented, “I can still train and I shall use this time to get fitter and stronger and turn this time into an advantage.”

Barritt arrives from Durban Sharks and Eddie Jones, the director of Rugby at Saracens believes the club have pulled off a major coup.

“Bradley’s an exciting player and we’re delighted he’s joining Saracens. He’s a talented footballer who can control games but he also has a physical edge to his game.”
