The 23-year-old hooker made only six appearances for the Saints last season, but Sharks’ director of rugby Phillipe Saint Andre believes there is more to come from Ward.

The 22-year-old international has already had spells with Leicester Tigers and Leeds but Sale coach Kingsley Jones believes he can get the most out of the player.

He commented, “Andy is a raw talent and we feel he can bring power to the backs and this can really go forward.”
