The four England players who are being investigated as part of a sexual assault case have been told they’re free to leave the country with the rest of the squad, as no formal complaint has been made.

The four men have declined to answer questions from Auckland police regarding the incident after taking advice from a solicitor.

Francis Baron from the RFU commented on his support for the players, “We are desperate to clear the players’ names but we’re in a very strange situation - with no allegations, no complaint being made - as to exactly how the name of the players can be cleared.”

England go down to second heavy defeat

June 21, 2008 by Thomas · Leave a Comment

England’s miserable tour of New Zealand has ended with a second heavy defeat after the All Blacks ran out convincing 44-12 winners.

The hosts had the game wrapped up by half-time, heading in with a 20-0 lead after a lackluster first period from England in which they failed to offer any kind of threat.

Danny Care got the England try and converted it himself to give the visitors some pride, but this was another unconvincing performance from the new England side.

Topsy Ojo is set to make his England debut in the first test against New Zealand in a much changed side that could see as many as 11 changes.

Despite the mass changes, New Zealand coach Graham Henry remains cautious. He commented, “We’ll have to be a bit sharper if we are to defeat England. They have some very experienced internationals plus some new players coming through who might not be well known in New Zealand but will be a real challenge on Saturday.”
