Dallaglio asks critics for time

Lawrence Dallaglio is urging critics of the England side to give both the players and coach Martin Johnson time to gel and build up an understanding.

Dallaglio says many people have already forgotten that in 1997, South Africa claimed a similarly emphatic victory at Twickenham, only for many of that England team to go on and win the World Cup in 2003.

“People have very short memories. It took me two or three attempts before I eventually beat South Africa and the same with Australia. England will get better and they will win, but people need to recognise that it won’t happen overnight.

“We have to stick with these players and we’ll get there in the end. There’s absolutely no doubt about that.”
